Email newsletters are a great way to get the word out about your accounting firm and show your clients that they can trust your expertise. With more people using email than even platforms like Facebook, it’s one of the most excellent tools for digital marketers. It can be beneficial if you’re delving into content marketing and need to get more traffic to your blog!

So, without further ado, here are some of our tips for writing great accounting newsletters!

Use Eye-Grabbing Headlines

When your clients open their email inbox, the first part of your email they’ll see is the headline. That’s why it’s incredibly important to use the right words right off the bat. Think about it: we only have so many hours in the day. That means people are only going to get to so many items in their inbox. You have to get your audience’s attention by offering them something special. Tell people what they can learn from your content this week or month, or advertise your interesting new services or deals!

Share Content Your Audience Will Care About

One of our favorite ways to use email newsletters is to tell clients about blog content from our website (like this article!). You should pay special attention to your audience’s needs and interests. If you aren’t sure what’s trending, you can always conduct some industry research to start things out. Look at what topics are popular with other blogs you admire! You can also poll your own audience. Ask your clients and potential clients directly what they’re curious about.

Know What Gets Opened

One of the best ways to continually improve your email marketing strategy is by measuring your results. Why fix things that aren’t broken? You should be tracking things such as open rates, click-through rates, bounce rates, and unsubscribes. You can use that information to try to replicate good results. If one specific headline did well, try to figure out what keywords you might have used that produced such excitement!

Keep Things Simple

Most people aren’t going to read a two thousand-word email, so it’s best to keep things short and to the point. What you really want to do is redirect your audience from their inbox to your website. Give just enough of a preview to get their attention without giving away all your content upfront. Use links to direct your clients to full articles or resources on your website.

Try a Template!

We love the templates that Mailchimp offers! Mailchimp is an app all about email-building, and we like it so much that we even made an entire post about it. We recommend trying an app like MailChimp if you’re completely new to email marketing, which helps you with all the formatting and gives you helpful tips along the way.

Email newsletters are the perfect way to advertise the content you’re making for your website, service changes, and updates about your accounting firm. It’s also great to seal the deal and build trust with potential clients.
